Get Off Your High Horse and Reach Out
I am an extremely independent person. I love to figure things out for myself. I like to think I’m smart and I can handle whatever situation I find myself in. Unfortunately, this doesn’t always happen.
I reached out even if I felt embarrassed.
For a few months, I tried to get Google Analytics to work with my blog. Despite all my efforts, there was no evidence of data. Last week, I decided to get off my high horse and ask for help. I asked my question on the CoSchedule Marketing Course Facebook page and people responded immediately. It worked like magic!
Why had I wasted so many months trying to get Google Analytics to work for me when I could have reached out? I had felt embarrassed initially because I didn’t want to admit I didn’t know. But I got over myself and asked for help. I’m so glad I did. My issue got fixed; I made a new and very valuable online friend who has fixed other pending issues for me. Perfect!
How many times do you stay so high on your horse?
How many times do you stay focused on yourself and care about what others think? Could you have gone farther than your current place in life if you had reached out a bit? Is it possible you could have resolved your long pending unresolved issues if you had let go?
We all love to feel smart and certain about our lives. The need to feel smart and certain could vary for different people. In some aspects, you feel you should know how to do some things and you don’t. You don’t want to let go and admit you don’t know. Your stubbornness to hold on to your ignorance could be limiting your progress.
You need to let go and reach out.
You need to understand it’s okay to not know everything. It’s okay to not be sure about certain things. It’s okay to need help. It’s okay to be vulnerable.
Reach out today.
Get off your high horse and reach out. Get down from the pedestal you’ve placed yourself on and reach out. You will find help on the other side. Give yourself a chance to learn from the world around you.
When I reached out, I realized there are many people in the world who want to help. People are looking for someone to help. People want to show off their expertise so let them. You will gain valuable insight and solutions.
